MOU WITH FDOT FOR COUNTER SYSTEMS ON COUNTY OWNED TRAILS

Miami-Dade County is seeking to ratify a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the installation and maintenance of two counter systems on county-owned trails within the Florida Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail Network. FDOT will fund and maintain the hardware, while the County's role is limited to approving installation locations and coordinating schedules. The agreement, effective from September 24, 2025, to September 23, 2026, also delegates authority to the County Mayor or designee to enter into future similar agreements with FDOT, provided they have no negative fiscal impact on the County. The counter systems use technology to collect bicycle and pedestrian volume data 24/7 without interfering with trail use. This item is in committee and has not yet received final action.
