PTP AMENDMENT FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO DTPW

Miami-Dade County is considering an amendment to the FY 2026-30 Five-Year Implementation Plan of the People's Transportation Plan (PTP). The amendment seeks to retroactively include the purchase of fifteen (15) 40-foot diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for the I-95 Phase I and II project. These buses were purchased in January 2017 for I-95 Express Bus Service routes between Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, funded in part by Charter County Transportation Surtax Funds and FDOT grants. The routes were discontinued in March 2020. The county issued a reimbursement payment of $3,896,702 to FDOT on January 12, 2026, for the depreciated value and unauthorized mileage. Retroactive inclusion in the PTP is required to authorize the use of PTP capital funds to restore DTPW's operating fund. The project is monitored by the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW).
