The City of DeLand's Historic Preservation Board is reviewing proposed changes to land development regulations concerning parking garages. The proposal requires the first floor of parking garages facing Priority 1 Streets to include active uses like commercial, office, or residential spaces. These commercial uses can be within the garage structure or in separate "liner buildings." The regulations also specify design standards for these structures and prohibit direct vehicle access to garages from Priority 1 streets. This item is currently under review. If approved, this could lead to new construction or renovation projects involving site preparation, concrete work, framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and finishing trades for both parking structures and integrated commercial spaces.
