The City of DeLand Historic Preservation Board is considering new building massing requirements. These rules aim to make large buildings appear smaller by breaking them into smaller parts. They prohibit plain, box-like buildings with large blank walls. Buildings must vary in height and width to look more interesting and show details to people walking by. For buildings longer than 75 feet along a street, specific projections or recesses will be required. This item is currently under review.
