The City of Destin is undertaking a comprehensive rewrite of its Land Development Code (LDC). This project, initiated by City Council approval in April 2021, involves extensive review and drafting of new regulations. The process has included collaboration with consultants from 3TP, review of planning policies, development of planning areas, and chapter-by-chapter LDC text review. Following public and internal reviews since April 2024, and incorporating feedback from the Local Planning Agency and City Council, the draft is now under review. This extensive code revision will set in motion work related to planning, legal review, and potentially future development consulting. Contractors, suppliers, and service providers in fields such as legal services, engineering, and planning could find opportunities by engaging with the city early in this process, before specific development plans are finalized.
