The City of Destin is working with consultant 3TP Ventures, LLC to update its Land Development Code (LDC). This project aims to modernize and simplify the code, making it easier to read and understand. A key part of this update is Article 8, which covers Sign Regulations. The goal is to create clear rules that promote safety and economic welfare while preventing unsightly signs and conflicts between people and vehicles. The updated code will feature clearer language, better organization with charts and graphics, and streamlined processes. This project is currently under review, with drafts of Article 8 available for public review since April 2024 and presented to City Council in December 2024. The work involves revising legal language, format, and organization. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in fields like legal services, engineering, design, printing, and signage could find opportunities as the LDC is finalized and implemented. Engaging early before final plans and permits are issued may offer a competitive advantage.
