The City of Destin is beginning a four-prong flood resilience project. Survey and geotechnical soils investigation work is planned to start May 8 and will take about two to three weeks. This early phase involves field crews collecting data, including soil borings, at the lake edge, on land, and within the lake. This project is currently in the planning and early investigation stages, following council approval on April 7th. The work will involve site clearing and grading, followed by potential underground utility work and stormwater management as the project progresses. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in site preparation, surveying, geotechnical services, and material supply can find opportunities by engaging early before detailed site plans and bids are finalized.
