The City of Destin is reviewing a proposal that could allow future transportation facility retention areas to include stormwater retention facilities. This option, if approved by the City Engineer and City Council, would mean developers would not need to relocate stormwater retention. The city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) aims to maintain service levels for sanitary sewer, solid waste, drainage, potable water, traffic circulation, recreation, and open space. The CIP schedule, presented in Table 14-1 of the comprehensive plan, may be changed by ordinance and is reviewed annually. This item is currently under review.
