A. CRA Funding Recommendations (Major Action Item)

The Town Center Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee has recommended funding for several projects. These include a feasibility study and conceptual design for a Publix Area Green Space / Town Center Multiuse Park, with a goal to accelerate its timeline. Roadway improvements, sidewalks, and bike lanes are planned for the Mattie Kelly Boulevard Connector (North, South), funded by sales and gas taxes. The Airport Road & Commons Drive Intersection will receive safety improvements and high-friction paving, funded by construction loan funds, with a deadline before November 2026. An engineering study for undergrounding utilities within the CRA district is also recommended, funded by electric franchise fees. Finally, design plans for improvements at Jewel Melvin Park, including pavilions, picnic tables, and playground equipment, were discussed but removed from the current annual report to be addressed separately. These recommendations are planned for presentation to the CRA Board. The work could involve site preparation, utility coordination, paving, and installation of park amenities. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers are encouraged to engage early as these projects move through the funding and planning stages.
