The City of Fernandina Beach is reviewing proposals for improvements to the Amelia Island Lighthouse to enhance the visitor experience. This project includes structural repairs to the light, securing funding, and completing exterior and interior work. Plans involve new fencing, work on the lighthouse base, and incorporating historic bricks into new brickwork. Sidewalks will be removed, replaced, and widened for ADA accessibility. This project is currently under review, offering an early opportunity for local businesses. The scope of work is expected to involve site preparation, utility work, concrete and paving, framing, mechanical and electrical trades, roofing, and finishing work. Contractors, suppliers, and service providers are encouraged to engage early to understand project details before final plans and permits are established.
