The City of Jacksonville Beach is considering a two-year pilot program to increase the number of temporary extension of premises permits for restaurants and bars. This program, planned to run during the 2026 and 2027 NFL football seasons, would allow establishments to temporarily increase their capacity for Jaguars away games. Currently, only two permits are allowed per year, but this pilot program could allow up to eight permits per establishment for single-day events during Jaguars away games. These events must start and end within one hour of game time, and sound is limited to game broadcasts. The program is currently under review, having passed its first reading by the City Council. This initiative could create opportunities for businesses involved in event services, temporary structures, and potentially food and beverage suppliers who cater to increased customer volume during game days.
