Transportation, Energy & Utilities Committee · 2026-04-21 · agenda_item

The City of Jacksonville's Office of Resilience is working with the Planning Department on proposed legislation to update land development regulations. This legislation aims to create incentives for developers to build at greater heights and higher densities in specific locations. The goal is to improve the city's resilience to flooding and other environmental challenges. This initiative is currently under review. The proposed changes could lead to future site development, requiring services such as site clearing and grading, underground utility work, and construction of new structures. Contractors, suppliers, and service providers in areas like site prep, general contracting, concrete, framing, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC may find opportunities as these regulations are finalized and projects begin. Engaging early before specific bid processes are established could provide a competitive advantage.
