The City of Kissimmee is reviewing its Surplus Land Inventory Program, which identifies city-owned properties suitable for affordable housing development. Housing and Community Development staff will manage this program, setting schedules and monitoring construction progress. Recipients of donated or purchased land could include community land trusts, CHDOs, CDCs, private developers, and adjacent property owners. These organizations are encouraged to leverage funds from federal and state grants. The program aims to ensure affordable housing goals are met, with a Certificate of Occupancy required within thirty-six months of a donation agreement. This review stage presents an early opportunity for contractors, suppliers, and service providers to engage with potential developers who will be undertaking site preparation, utility work, construction, and finishing trades for new affordable housing projects.
