C. Shoulder Backing Material

The City of West Melbourne is planning a project to furnish, place, and compact shoulder backing material. This work will be done to the top of the Safety EdgeSM, following standards outlined in the Manual of Uniform Minimum Standards for Design, Construction and Maintenance for Streets and Highways, specifically Chapter 10, Pages 10-8 and 10-9. This project is currently under review by the City Council. The scope of work will involve site preparation, material delivery, and compaction of shoulder backing material.
