The City of Winter Park's Lakes & Waterways Board is reviewing updates on lake management. This includes ongoing treatments for invasive plants like Cuban Bulrush and Hydrilla in Lake Spier. Work is also planned for Killarney Lake concerning a harmful algal bloom, with sample results pending. Agreements have been awarded for Shoreview and Canton related to a FDEP Innovative Grant for a Nanobubbler system. The city is also installing underground trash collection units, called CDS units, to capture debris from stormwater before it reaches lakes, which could help remove sandbars. Canal repairs are currently underway, beginning with seawall caps in Genius Canal and moving to Venetian Canal, with the latter expected to take 3 to 4 weeks.
