The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met on April 14, 2026, to consider a settlement agreement with Sheriff Eric Flowers. The agreement involves an additional appropriation of $3,500,000 for the Sheriff's FY 25/26 budget and a $4,000,000 increase for the FY 26/27 budget. In exchange, the Sheriff agrees to dismiss his Circuit Court case and Florida Administration Commission appeal, and not seek further budget amendments for FY 25/26 unless an emergency occurs. The FY 26/27 budget funding is to be through taxable revenues. The $3.5 million for FY 25/26 will be funded from undesignated fund balance.
