Indian River County is planning an oyster bed project to protect and preserve the Indian River Lagoon. The project will install infrastructure for a living shoreline and oyster reef along the shoreline of Foot Island in Vero Beach. This area is approximately 2,750 square feet, and the proposed oyster reef will cover about 27,500 square feet.
