The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is sponsoring a Group Transit Asset Management plan for organizations that receive Section 5311 and 5310 grant funds. These organizations, known as Tier II providers, can join FDOT's group plan or create their own performance targets. FDOT will inform Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and participating Tier II providers once transit targets are set. Each Tier II provider must then tell their MPO and FDOT in writing when they set their targets. This written notice will include the final targets and the date they were set, starting a 180-day clock for the MPO to establish its own transit performance targets. MPOs can update their targets when Tier II providers do, or when they update their long-range transportation plans. This process is currently under review. The work involves planning and setting performance metrics for public transportation assets. Local businesses involved in transit planning, data analysis, and reporting could find opportunities. Early engagement is advised as the MPO works to establish its targets.
