Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This brings the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. The extension aims to continue providing nutritious meals to elderly clients through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and Meals on Wheels. The pool was originally established on July 20, 2021, and has nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about the distribution of meals to seniors in District 5, particularly low-income and Spanish-speaking populations, and requested a list of vendors and their service areas. Ms. Burgos confirmed the list could be provided and explained the delivery methods. The Safety and Health Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
