ELDERLY MEALS
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-486-26 on June 2, 2026, authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This modifies the total cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. The pool, initially established on July 20, 2021, provides nutritious meals through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and Meals on Wheels for homebound individuals. The extension aims to maintain efficiency and reduce administrative burdens for existing vendors. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, currently participate. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about meal distribution and food insecurity among seniors in District 5, requesting a list of vendors and their service areas, which was to be provided after the meeting. The extension is funded by federal funds from the Alliance for Aging, Inc. under the Older Americans Act.
