Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners deferred a resolution to authorize the acceptance of a 1.07-acre parcel for conservation purposes. The parcel, located along Harriet Tubman Highway and SW 278 Street, is being conveyed by VC Station, LLC. The property is identified by Folio Nos. 30-6933-000-0680 and 30-6933-000-0700. The deferral was requested by Vice-Chairman Kionne L. McGhee. Previously, the Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded the resolution with a favorable recommendation. The land is a pine rockland preservation area and was identified during the review of an adjacent mixed-use affordable housing development. The developer agreed to donate the land for conservation. Minor soil and groundwater impacts were identified near the northeastern boundary but are being addressed by the owner and do not impede conservation use. The County anticipates annual maintenance costs between $5,000 to $10,000, to be funded by Tree Trust Funds.
