Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from FY 2026 through FY 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic blueprint for meeting transportation needs. It establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and forecasts future demand. The update includes a comprehensive review of DTPW's services, operating environment, and coordination with other planning documents. Public outreach for the plan occurred in Fall 2025, including a survey with over 5,000 responses, pop-up events, and presentations to various committees. The survey indicated general rider satisfaction and feelings of safety at stations, with opportunities for improvement in accessing stations and stops. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) provided guidance. The plan forecasts ridership growth outpacing population growth, particularly among choice riders, with the development of premium transit corridors. Chapter 8 details the 10-Year Implementation Plan, including priority, funded, partially funded, and uncommitted projects, along with the 10-Year Financial Plan for Operating and Capital Programs. Adoption of the TDP is a prerequisite for State Public Transit Block Grant funds.
