Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from FY 2026 through FY 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic blueprint for meeting transportation needs. It establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and documents anticipated future demand. The update includes detailed analysis of operating environments, public involvement, coordination with other plans, land use integration, demand estimation, and a 10-year implementation and financial plan. Public outreach included surveys (over 5,000 responses), pop-up events, social media, analysis of 311 calls, and presentations to various committees and groups. Riders expressed general satisfaction and safety at stations, with opportunities for improvement in accessing stations and stops. The plan is coordinated with other county and regional transportation plans and is a prerequisite for State Public Transit Block Grant funds. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to submit the TDP Major Update to the Florida Department of Transportation.
