TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN MAJOR UPDATE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from Fiscal Year 2026 through Fiscal Year 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic blueprint for meeting transportation needs. It identifies long-term transit infrastructure needs, establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and documents anticipated future demand. The adoption authorizes the County Mayor or designee to submit the update to the Florida Department of Transportation. Public input included a transit rider survey with over 5,000 responses, pop-up events, social media outreach, analysis of 311 calls, and the Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ambassador program. The survey indicated general rider satisfaction and feelings of safety at stations, with opportunities for improvement in accessing stations and stops. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) with representatives from various entities also provided input.
