A resolution calling a countywide special election in Miami-Dade County, Florida, to be held in conjunction with the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to submit to electors the question of whether to amend the Home Rule Charter to establish a Boundary Commission for annexations and incorporations. The resolution failed at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on July 21, 2026. The proposed amendment would replace the Planning Advisory Board's role and set new procedures and requirements for petitions, public hearings, and approvals related to boundary changes and creation of new municipalities, including specific thresholds for elector and non-residential property owner consent, and a collective three-year review process. The Charter Review Task Force recommended the amendment by a vote of eight in favor and none against. A scrivener's error was corrected to replace 'Resolution No. R-255-24' with 'Resolution No. R-225-24'.
