Resolution adopted by the Miami-Dade County Commission calling a countywide special election in conjunction with the November 3, 2026 General Election to submit to voters a question on amending the Home Rule Charter to make technical changes, including updating certain listed County locations to current name, allowing additional methods of public notice and virtual participation by commissioners when otherwise allowed by state law, and ensuring consistent stylistic conventions for numbering, gender, capitalization, and grammar. The Charter Review Task Force recommended the amendment by a vote of ten in favor and zero against. A scrivener's error was corrected on July 9, 2026, replacing 'Resolution No. R-255-24' with 'Resolution No. R-225-24' in the first Whereas clause. The Policy Council forwarded the resolution to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation as corrected on July 13, 2026, and again on July 14, 2026. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the resolution on July 21, 2026, as agenda item 11A19. The resolution was introduced on June 26, 2026. The ballot question will appear as: 'Shall the Home Rule Charter be amended to make certain technical changes, including updating certain listed County locations to current name, allowing for additional methods of public notice and participation when otherwise allowed by state law, and ensuring consistent stylistic conventions for numbering, gender, capitalization, and grammar?'
