Miami-Dade County Commissioners adopted a resolution directing the County Mayor or designee to file an application to amend the Comprehensive Development Master Plan (CDMP). The amendment will address the use of text amendments that may facilitate urban land uses on property outside the Urban Development Boundary (UDB), without seeking to expand the UDB or amend the Land Use Plan (LUP) map. The proposed amendment aims to ensure that such text amendments require a demonstration of need, avoidance of sprawl, and mitigation of environmental impacts. It also seeks to provide flexibility for text amendments in Urban Expansion Areas. The process is subject to Senate Bill 180, meaning the application cannot be filed with the state until October 2027, unless extended by emergency declarations.
