Miami-Dade County is establishing the Copart West Street Lighting Special Taxing District to provide street lighting services. The district is generally bounded by SW 236 Street to the north, SW 134 Avenue to the east, and the C-102 Canal to the south and west. The project involves the installation of approximately 18 LED streetlights. The estimated cost for the first year of operation, including installation and electricity, is $82,815.28, to be funded by the developer. Subsequent years will have an estimated cost of $18,647.70, with an annual assessment of $4.8380 per assessable front foot. The district is a subdivision requirement and was petitioned by Copart of Connecticut, Inc., the sole property owner. The ordinance was adopted on first reading and set for a public hearing. Florida Power and Light will own and maintain the system, with potential for increased staffing for their contractors and subcontractors.
