ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION AND UTILITY SERVICE FEE

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is establishing a loan program for environmental remediation projects that protect the drinking water supply. This program will amend Section 24-34 of the County Code and will be funded by the Utility Service Fee Fund. Loans will be available for properties currently owned by the County or previously owned by the County as of January 1, 2025, provided the properties are 10 acres or larger. Eligible applicants include County departments, tenants on County-owned properties, and owners/tenants of former County properties. Remediation must benefit the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department and protect the drinking water supply. Loan terms for non-County entities include zero percent interest, repayment over 35 years, and a second priority lien. Loans to County departments will also be interest-free and repaid within 35 years. The program is discretionary and requires Board of County Commissioners approval for all loans.
