Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution calling for a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to coincide with the general election. The purpose of the election is to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter to establish an independent salary commission for determining the compensation of the Board of County Commissioners. The Charter Review Task Force recommended this change with a vote of nine in favor and one against. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.
