Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment, File Number 261181, aims to create an independent, five-member Salary Commission to determine compensation for the Board of County Commissioners. This follows a recommendation from the Charter Review Task Force, which voted nine to one in favor. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins. The Policy Council forwarded the resolution to the BCC with a favorable recommendation after correcting a scrivener's error. The election will be held in conjunction with the general election.
