Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution delegating authority to the County Mayor or designee to negotiate and execute an amendment to an Exchange Agreement with UniCapital Medley QOZB LLC. This amendment will modify minimum design requirements and increase the County's minimum contribution for the Animal Services Department South Dade Pet Adoption and Protection Center. The County's contribution will increase by up to $3,000,000.00, bringing the total County contribution to not exceed $6,200,000.00. An additional $1,000,000.00 is approved for a design and construction contingency. The total project cost is estimated to increase from approximately $21,000,000 to approximately $25,000,000, with $18,000,000 in private funds and up to $7,200,000 in County funds (including contingency). The resolution also waives Resolution No. R-130-06, which requires contracts to be executed by all non-County parties prior to agenda placement. The purpose of the design enhancements is to improve facility performance, operational reliability, reduce disease spread, and support the County's No-Kill policy, incorporating specialized systems and best practices for animal sheltering facilities.
