Miami-Dade County is reporting on job classifications where active-duty military experience can substitute for traditional college degree requirements. The People and Internal Operations Department (PIOD) identified 485 job classifications within the classified service system where this substitution is feasible. Additionally, 683 classified service job classifications do not require a college degree. These efforts aim to attract and retain a skilled workforce by valuing practical experience. The report is in response to a resolution adopted on November 4, 2025, directing the County Mayor to identify and facilitate such substitutions. The report will be placed on the Board of County Commissioners agenda on July 21, 2026.
