REPORT REGARDING DTPW FARE SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS

Report regarding DTPW fare, service adjustments, and contracted route changes for the July 20, 2026 bus and rail lineups. No fare changes. One bus route operated directly by DTPW will be contracted out (Route 500) and one contracted out bus route will be operated directly by DTPW (Route 2). Net fiscal impact estimated savings of approximately $300,000 annually. Introduced 8/4/2026, agenda date 9/1/2026, agenda item number 2B7, status in draft, pending BCC assignment. No rail service changes implemented with the July 20, 2026 rail lineup, only minor operational improvements related to single-tracking schedules. Route 183 routing changes between Aventura Mall and NE 186 St to serve W Dixie Hwy and the Aventura Brightline Station seven days a week due to delay of pedestrian bridge and passenger feedback. Routes 183 and 602 have schedule improvements. Route 2 weekday service decreased from every 20 to every 30 minutes. Route 601 weekday southbound service decreased from every 7.5 minutes to every 15 minutes from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and increased from every 15 minutes to every 7.5 minutes from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Route 602 weekday northbound service decreased from every 10 minutes to every 15 minutes from 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and southbound from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., southbound service decreased from every 15 minutes to every 30 minutes from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Route 836 weekday trip added eastbound from the Dolphin Park-and-Ride at 7:30 a.m. and westbound from Downtown Miami at 4:40 p.m. Route 2 changed from operated by a contractor to operated directly by DTPW. Route 500 changed from operated directly by DTPW to operated by a contractor. Route 500 is fully funded by the Village of Cutler Bay, and the decision to contract out the service was made at their request due to budget constraints. Efficiency savings using new HASTUS software allowed for the return of Route 2 back to DTPW operations. Operational changes reduce contracted transit service costs by approximately $1,705,667 annually, but corresponding revenue service will be absorbed by DTPW using existing personnel and resources.
