The agreements authorize FPL to conduct load control operations by temporarily disconnecting power to the respective Electrical Distribution Buildings #2 (EDB-2s) during emergency conditions, capacity shortages, or other system events, while WASD operates its backup generators. In return, WASD will receive an incentive credit of $9.75 per kilowatt (kW) on its electricity bills. The estimated annual savings are approximately $51,000 at the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant and approximately $68,000 at the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant. WASD will install electrical configuration upgrades at the EDB-2 at the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant at an estimated cost of $40,000. The EDB-2 at the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently under construction, and necessary upgrades are already incorporated into that project scope.
