Ordinance to annex unincorporated Miami-Dade County Area J into the City of Florida City. The annexation area is the West 1/2 of Section 23, Township 57 South, Range 38 East, together with the East 1/2 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section 22, Township 57 South, Range 38 East, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Approximate outer boundaries are north by SW 328th Street (Southwest 7th Street), east by SW 192nd Avenue, south by SW 344th Street, west by SW 199th Avenue. The ordinance reserves to the County utility tax revenues, residential garbage and refuse collection and disposal, jurisdiction over certain declarations of restrictive covenants and areas and facilities of countywide significance, and requires payment of outstanding debt service. The City of Florida City submitted the annexation application on September 15, 2021. The Board adopted Resolution No. R-658-25 on July 1, 2025, directing the County Attorney to prepare the ordinance. The ordinance was adopted on first reading on July 21, 2026, and set for a public hearing before the Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee on September 10, 2026.
