Resolution approving an amendment to the FY 2026-30 Five-Year Implementation Plan Update of the People's Transportation Plan (PTP) to retroactively include the Purchase of 40-Foot Buses for I-95 Phase I and II project (CIP145), funded in part by Charter County Transportation Surtax Funds. The project involves the purchase of fifteen (15) 40-foot diesel and compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to support I-95 Express Bus Service routes between Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The buses previously served routes 195/295 and 196/296. The fiscal impact is $3,896,702. The item was forwarded to the Board with a favorable recommendation following a public hearing. The resolution is before the Board with an agenda date of 9/1/2026. The request was made to advance the item to the July 21, 2026, Board meeting. The buses were purchased with FDOT grant funds and placed into service in January 2017. Routes were discontinued in March 2020. On September 9, 2024, FDOT requested reimbursement. DTPW issued a reimbursement payment of $3,896,702 to FDOT on January 12, 2026, using DTPW's Operating Fund. Retroactive inclusion is required to authorize the use of PTP capital funds to restore DTPW's operating fund resources.
