The City of Palatka is planning for future growth and has projected a need for additional housing units by 2045. Based on population projections, the city anticipates needing 5,325 housing units in total, which is 658 more units than the current 4,667 units. A carrying capacity analysis has been performed to understand how much development is possible on vacant lands. This analysis shows potential for building up to 2,926 residential units and 21,951,626 square feet of non-residential space across various future land use categories. This item is currently under review as part of a plan update. The project would involve site clearing and grading, underground utility work, road construction, and the vertical construction of residential and commercial buildings, followed by landscaping. Contractors, suppliers, and service providers in residential and commercial construction, as well as related trades and material suppliers, should consider reaching out to the city early to understand potential future needs before detailed site plans and permits are finalized.
