Palm Beach County is planning an expansion of Water Treatment Plant No. 2 (WTP 2). The project, which is currently under review, involves constructing a new 30 million gallon per day (MGD) membrane plant, expanding and hardening the existing plant, and adding pre-treatment systems, a membrane building, chemical systems, a clearwell, air scrubbers, ground storage tanks, and pumping systems. It also includes electrical, instrumentation, and control upgrades, as well as wellfield expansion and raw water main installation. The initial phase will focus on pre-construction services like constructability reviews and cost estimating, leading to a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for future construction. This project will involve significant site clearing and grading, underground utility work, concrete and masonry, structural work, mechanical and electrical systems installation, and final landscaping. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers are encouraged to engage early to understand the project's scope and potential subcontracting opportunities before final bid packages and permits are established.
