C. Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning

The Pasco County MPO is planning to develop a network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, focusing on user safety. This initiative includes finalizing an Active Transportation Plan and continuing non-motorized traffic counts. The project involves studies like Vision Zero and Bike/Ped Inventory Reports, along with implementing the Active Transportation Plan and addressing hazardous walking conditions near schools and high-crash areas. Educational programs and a Bike Map/Brochure will also be developed. Additionally, a pilot study will document non-motorized transportation infrastructure and safety within a two-mile radius of selected middle schools to identify needs and prioritize improvements. This planning and development work is currently under review and is expected to continue through June 2026. The project will involve site analysis, data collection, planning, and program development. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in areas such as engineering, surveying, data collection, and administrative support could find opportunities by engaging early before specific bids and permits are finalized.
