The Pasco County MPO is planning to develop its network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, focusing on user safety. This initiative includes finalizing an Active Transportation Plan and continuing non-motorized counts. The plan aims to evaluate trail crossings, coordinate regional projects, implement the Active Transportation Plan, and address hazardous walking conditions near schools and high crash areas. Additionally, educational programs for active transportation will be developed, along with a Bike/Ped Master Plan and Map/Brochure. A pilot study will document non-motorized transportation infrastructure and safety conditions within a two-mile radius of selected middle schools. The project is currently under review and planned for completion between July 2026 and June 2028, with some tasks extending through September 2028. This will involve site assessments, data collection, planning, and potentially infrastructure improvements. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in areas such as engineering, planning, data analysis, and potentially construction support services are encouraged to engage early to understand the scope and potential needs as plans develop.
