The Pasco County MPO is planning to develop a network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities focused on user safety. This initiative includes finalizing an Active Transportation Plan, which is scheduled for completion between July 2026 and June 2028. The plan will guide the implementation of bicycle and pedestrian projects, including evaluating trail crossings, coordinating regional projects, and addressing hazardous walking conditions near schools and high-crash areas. Additionally, the MPO will develop educational programs, create a bike map, and conduct a pilot study to assess non-motorized infrastructure and safety around middle schools. This project will involve planning, data review, and support for emerging transportation technologies. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in areas such as engineering, planning, design, and potentially site preparation and landscaping could find opportunities as these plans move toward implementation. Engaging early is advisable as the MPO is in the planning stages.
