C. Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning

The Pasco County MPO is planning to develop a network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, focusing on user safety. This initiative includes finalizing an Active Transportation Plan and continuing non-motorized counts. The plan aims to evaluate trail crossings, coordinate regional projects, implement the Active Transportation Plan, and address hazardous walking conditions near schools and high-crash areas. Educational programs for active transportation will also be developed, along with a Bike/Ped Master Plan and Map/Brochure. A pilot study will document non-motorized infrastructure and safety conditions within a two-mile radius of selected middle schools. Non-motorized activity counts will be conducted using cameras and programs to support oversight. Planning activities for emerging transportation technologies will also be supported. This work is planned to occur between July 2026 and September 2028. This project will involve planning, data collection, and program development. Contractors, consultants, and suppliers specializing in transportation planning, engineering, data analysis, and public outreach could find opportunities. Engaging early is advantageous as plans and specific project needs are still being defined.
