The Pasco County MPO is developing a safety planning section within its Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) to address rising transportation fatalities. This initiative includes reviewing crash data, identifying trends, and conducting field safety audits in high-crash areas. The MPO will also coordinate with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) through ride-alongs and discussions to understand safety trends. Additionally, they plan to co-host the Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit conference and participate in various safety trainings and committees. The project also involves developing economic development plans that highlight multimodal transportation benefits and advancing the planning and analysis of micromobility options. This work is planned to occur between July 2026 and June 2028. Businesses involved in data analysis, safety consulting, event planning, training, and transportation planning may find opportunities. Early engagement is advised as this planning phase precedes detailed site plans, bids, and permits.
