Pasco County MPO is planning to develop a network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, focusing on user safety. This initiative includes finalizing an Active Transportation Plan and continuing non-motorized counts. The plan, expected to be finalized between July 2026 and June 2028, will guide implementation from July 2027 to June 2028. Work will involve evaluating trail crossings, coordinating regional projects, and identifying hazardous walking conditions near schools and high-crash corridors. Additionally, a pilot study will document non-motorized infrastructure and safety within a two-mile radius of selected middle schools. This project will likely involve planning, design, and potentially some construction or improvement work related to trails and pedestrian access. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in areas like site preparation, grading, paving, and landscaping could find opportunities.
