The Polk County Planning Commission met to review several proposed developments and land use changes. Several projects could create opportunities for local businesses. These include a 10-acre single-family home development at Main Street and Oak Avenue, a commercial project on 15 acres at County Road 54 and Grandview Drive, and a mixed-use development at County Road 455 and Lake Cypress Road. Other potential projects include a mixed-use development at County Road 54 and Old Lake Wilson Road, a retail center modification on U.S. Hwy 27, and an event facility on Reynolds Road. A new Waffle House is planned for Highland City at US 98 and Old 37.
