Lake County is planning a celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States. This initiative, called America's 250, aims to foster civic pride, unite communities, educate residents on local history, and promote tourism. As part of this effort, historical displays featuring municipal histories, historical society items, and library materials will be installed in the County Administration Building rotunda in the coming weeks. Additionally, flags are being installed along Main Street in Tavares. The Powerhouse Youth Project, focused on mentoring and engaging young people, is also being explored for potential implementation at Tavares High School or other community facilities like the Golden Triangle YMCA. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers are encouraged to reach out early to learn about opportunities related to these planned installations and potential youth program expansions. Early engagement before final plans and permits are set can provide a competitive advantage.
