The City of Tavares is participating in ongoing joint planning discussions with Lake County and other municipalities. These discussions, involving county officials, mayors, and city administrators, aim to identify transitional areas, rural protection zones, and wildlife corridors. Consultants are currently working to map these areas for all 14 municipalities in Lake County. Within approximately one year, joint planning agreements are expected to be presented to each municipality for review. These agreements will cover topics like the transfer of development rights and long-term planning coordination. The City Council will ultimately consider these agreements for direction. This process is in the review and planning stage, offering early opportunities for businesses involved in planning, engineering, and land use consulting. Engaging now allows for potential involvement as these plans develop into concrete projects.
