Central Florida recorded 1,860 new business filings the week of July 1 to 7, a week shortened by the Independence Day holiday when the state office was closed for part of it.

• Kissimmee Utility Authority has broken ground on a $20 million electrical substation, called Van Meter, that will serve about nine square miles of Osceola County.
