The City of Fernandina Beach is planning a traffic counts data collection project in the downtown area. This project will cover 36 blocks, bounded by 8th Street/SR A1A/SR 200 to the east, Front Street to the west, Broome Street to the north, and Beech Street to the south. The work involves identifying traffic count locations, installing equipment to collect data on cars, heavy vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles, and analyzing this data. Data will be collected during typical weekdays, typical Sundays, and specifically during the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. This project is currently under review and is planned to be completed by August 31, 2024. The scope includes site analysis, data collection, and reporting. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers can get involved by offering services related to traffic data collection, equipment supply, and potentially data analysis. Reaching out early before final bids and permits are set could provide a competitive advantage.
